Turn 2 Batle Report - Sector 44

Initial Deployment:  A large Japanese force invades Sector 44, defended by a destroyer squadron and a single cruiser.

Turn 1: Both sides launch heavy airstrikes, but only the Japanese ones are effective. Despite losing an Oscar to fighter cover, the Japanese strike planes sink the German cruiser and cripple one of the destroyers.  The Japanese fighters knock down a squadron of He177s and otherwise keep their ships safe from the German attack planes.

Turn 2:  The heavy Japanese air strikes again, sinking two destroyers and crippling the last one.  One of the strafing Rufe squadrons is downed by flak, but is otherwise a complete success.  The Japanese cruisers finish off the last German ship.

Conclusion:  With no more ships, the Germans launch some more airstrikes, attempting to cause some damage, but succeed only in getting a squadron of FW190s and the other He177 squadron shot down, all for only a single hit on the Shokaku.  The Japanese take the sector at the cost of only two squadrons of fighters.
