Turn 1 Battle Report - Sector 41

Initial Deployment: A small Japanese carrier battle fleet attempts to take the sector versus a German auxiliary supported by a full complement of land based aircraft.

Turn 1: The Japanese fleet advances and defends against the German air attack.  Both Stukas get through the defenses and land bomb hits on the Zuikaku.

Turn 2: The Japanese continue to advance.

Turn 3: The Japanese continue to advance.

Turn 4:The Japanese attempt to maximize their air defenses by combining the flak defenses of the carrier and cruiser.  This also requires the He177 to join the main attack group as it is unable to target the destroyer formation.  The move succeeds to a point as the flak downs the squadron of Stukas and the Zekes over the destroyers down the Stukas attacking there,  Unfortunately, not only did the German fighters down the Oscars, but both the Ju88 and He177 land hits on the carrier, sinking her.

Conclusion: Maximizing the use of its disguise ability, the Atlantis remains undetected until it is able to escape on turn 6.  The Japanese are left controlling the sector, but with the loss of not only the carrier but a squadron of fighters against the loss of only two dive bomber squadrons, it is a Pyrrhic victory.
