Turn 1 Battle Report - Sector 42

Initial Deployment: Two opposing battle fleets engage with a resource rich sector as the prize.

Turn 1: The Chiyoda launches both mini-subs, giving the Japanese a numeric advantage under the waves.  Both sides launch heavy air strikes.  The Val is downed by flak while the He 111 manages to land a bomb hit on the Sendai.
Turn 2: The Japanese fleets stays back but the Germans forge ahead.  The Kate lands a hit on the Prinz Eugen while the Gneisenau makes a successful Long Shot on the Fuso.
Turn 3: The Germans continue to close and the Japanese come out to meet them.  The Sendai is blown up by a bomb from a Stuka while the U-518 is crippled by the Emily.  The fleets exchange gunfire in vicious fashion.  The Gneisenau is hit by a long lance torpedo and the Z-20 is crippled by gunnery.  The U-85 is hit by depth charges from the destroyers and goes down.  In return, the Fuso is hit twice and suffers from a Crippling Salvo.  German gunnery also hits the Agano.  The I-34 then manages to land a torpedo on the Gneisenau.

Turn 4:  The intensity of the battle causes both Admirals to forget to call in their land based air, but it is nonetheless full of noteworthy action.  The squadron of Judy's is aborted by flak but in attempting to Press the Attack, is finished off by the German gunners.  The Me 155s, acting in an escort roll, are splashed by the Zekes but allow the Stuka to get through and sink the Agano with a vital hit.  German gunnery cripples the Fuso and sinks the Yukikaze.
Turn 5:  Wary of the Japanese torpedo threat, especially with three submarines, the Germans pull back.  Neither side forgets their land-based air this time.  The German bombers finish off the Fuso while the Emily falls to German flak.
Turn 6: The German fleet waits for the Japanese submarines to commit to a side of the island and then swing around to the weaker side.  Most of the available air engages over the last Japanese destroyer, but the defenders are unable to prevent the Stuka from crippling the ship.
Conclusion: Night falls on Turn 7 and the Japanese withdraw the remnants of their fleet under the cover of darkness.  The Japanese have suffered heavily, losing a battleship, two cruisers, a destroyer, and three squadrons of aircraft but the Germans, with their battleship heavily damaged and losing a key fighter squadron are not likely to be able to take immediate advantage, beyond securing the sector.

Turn 1 Battle Report - Sector 76

Initial Deployment:  A lone British submarine attempts to stop a German force of Cruisers and Destroyers supported by a u-boat and air cover.

Turn 1:  The forces close and the German flying boats begin hunting.

Turn 2: The BV 138s score their first hit.

Turn 3: The BV138 finishes off the HMS Triton before the destroyers even had a chance to attempt themselves.

Conclusion: The unsupported HMS Triton falls and the Germans take the sector.

Turn 1 Battle Report - Sector 67

Initial Deployment: The German and British battle fleets line up with the island between them.  The infiltrating U-47 sets up, ready to strike on turn 2.

Turn 1: The forces advance.  The British make a large air assault on the German battleship formation, to no effect.  Luckily, though, the British aircraft were able to land a depth charge hit on the U-47, sinking it.  The German air raid on the destroyer formation leaves both the HMS Croome and HMS Lance crippled.  The He 177 manages to land a bomb hit on the HMS Fiji.

Turn 2: Faced with the British submarines in the south, the German formations head north.  The Bf 109 attempts, unsuccessfully, to strafe the destroyer formation.

Turn 3: The two battleships maneuver for a long range shot, with the HMS Rodney leaving its escorts behind.  The Bismarck takes a hit, as does the HMS Rodney, though from a surprising source as the Admiral Hipper's guns score a hit on the battleship.

Turn 4: This would be a key turn as the land based air was again ready to enter the fray.  The bulk of the German air goes after the left-behind escorts of the HMS Rodney, managing to crippled HMS Fiji.  The British air formations go after the Bismarck and Admiral Hipper, but only succeed in getting the Albacore shot down by flak.  The Sunderland drops mines, forcing the Germans to close with the British submarines in order to close the distance to the British ships.  The heavy ships exchange fire, with the Bismarck's fire again ineffective while the HMS Rodney scores hits on both the Bismarck and Admiral Hipper.
Conclusion:  Not wanting to risk the British torpedoes, the German forces head West, exiting the map on turn 6.  The British, having captured the sector at the cost of a squadron of torpedo bombers and three crippled ships, let them go.

Turn 1 Battle Report - Sector 57

Initial Deployment: A lone British submarine attempts to contest Sector 57 against a German carrier group supported by submarines and flying boats.

Turn 1: The German destroyers move ahead to screen while the torpedo bombers and flying boats hunt for the British submarine.
Turn 2: The destroyers and u-boats close with the submarine.  The aircraft continue to harass but not damage the HMS Triton and the Z-19 lays a smoke screen to protect against short range torpedoes.

Turn 3: The British win initiative, giving a HMS Triton a small advantage in the ensuing game of cat and mouse.  The Z-32 uses Sub Hunter to get within ASW range.  Lots of weapons are discharged, but none with any effectiveness.

Turn 4: Losing initiative, the HMS Triton is now at the mercy of the surrounding hunters.  The BV 138 Flying Boats finally land a depth charge hit and the Z-32 finishes off the British submarine before it can launch any more torpedoes.

Conclusion: The Germans capture the sector with no damage, taking down a British submarine in the process.

Turn 1 Battle Report - Sector 91

Initial Deployment: The Atlantis, supported by a squadron of Fi 167 torpedo bombers attempts to contest the sector against a trio of British destroyers supported by fighters and Sunderlands.

Turn 1: The Atlantis remains within the bank of squalls while the Destroyers advance.  The German torpedo bombers try to disrupt the British formation and, while they avoid the defending fighters, flak from the HMS Mohawk eliminates the squadron.  The Sunderland drops mines to limit the raider's maneuver options.
Turn 2: The squalls collide, making very messy weather, but two of the three destroyers move right in, while the Mohawk covers the Southern route.  None of the gunfire has any effect.
Turn 3: The ships close within the storm front.  The Sunderlands brave the weather and land a bomb hit and then the ships exchange fire.  The HMS Tartar is crippled but the Atlantis is blown up by the HMS Mohawk.
Conclusion: The sector is captured by the British at the cost of only a crippled destroyer.
