Turn 1 Battle Report - Sector 12

Initial Deployment: Two large battle fleets face off over this valuable sector.

Turn 1: Both sides launch major air strikes.  A Hurricane IB manages to down a squadron of Nells, but sea planes from both sides manage to get hits on opposing submarines.

Turn 2: The sea planes finish off the submarines from both sides.  The Kirishima manages to hit the HMS Nigeria with her guns, but the answering fire from HMS Howe hits the Japanese battleship.

Turn 3: The Japanese carrier strike is met with devastating defensive fire, with the Kates falling to flak and the Vals falling to fighters.  The Sunderlands, with no submarines to attack, lay mines to slow the Japanese advance.  The HMS Howe lands a hit on the Aoba at long range.

Turn 4: The shortage of Japanese attack planes allows the British to be completely offensive with their air power and are successful in crippling the Tanikaze with bombs from Hurricane IICs.  The British surface gunnery is also effective, with the Nigeria finishing off the destroyer and the Howe hitting the Japanese battleship again.

Turn 5: Damaged and with the skies held by their opponents, the Japanese withdraw.  The British patrol bombers combine to finish off the Aoba and bombs from the Hurricanes cripple the Yunagi.

Turn 6: The Akagi and her escort retreat from the battle, leaving the rest of the fleet to fend for itself.  The British air strikes finish off the Yunagi, cripple the Asakaze, and damage the Jintsu.

Conclusion: The remaining Japanese forces retreat, leaving the British in control of the sector.  The cost to the British was damage to a cruiser and the loss of a submarine.
